Dental Insurance

Dental Insurance

At West Augusta Dental Associates, we are very insurance-friendly and have a dedicated staff to help you get the most out of your dental insurance benefits. We accept and file most insurances on your behalf. We are considered an unrestricted provider, which means we are out of network with many dental insurance plans. The good news is that if your employer-selected plan allows for out-of-network coverage, you have the freedom to select the practice of your choice instead of having to find an in-network corporately owned practice or clinic that works on a high-volume, high-turnover business model. It also allows us to work with you to determine the best treatment options instead of having a third-party insurance company impose downgrades and make changes to the care we recommend based on profits for the insurance company. We will be happy to help you determine the nature of your plan and answer any insurance questions.

We believe in making dental care straightforward and transparent, including the financial aspects. Unlike medical insurance, dental insurance typically works as a cost-sharing program with annual maximums and varying levels of coverage. Most plans cover preventive care (like teeth cleanings and exams) at a higher percentage, while basic procedures (fillings) and major procedures (crowns, bridges) are covered at lower percentages.

We're happy to help you understand your dental insurance benefits. We will provide detailed documentation and submit it for reimbursement. Our team can also estimate your insurance coverage before treatment, helping you plan for out-of-pocket expenses. Remember that your maximum and coverage levels reset annually, so we can help you plan treatment timing to maximize your benefits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most patients using SureSmile clear aligners in Augusta, GA, switch to a new set of trays every one to two weeks, depending on their treatment plan.

Each set of aligners moves your teeth a small amount. Once your teeth have shifted into the position that the set was designed for, you’ll switch that tray out for the next one in the set. This gradual process continues until your teeth reach their final positioning.

What to Expect During Clear Aligner Treatment

You'll wear your aligners for most of the day, 20 to 22 hours, and you’ll only take them out to eat, drink (anything besides water), brush, and floss. Consistency matters during this process. Wearing your trays for fewer hours than recommended or losing a tray can slow your progress and extend your overall treatment time.

Our team will give you several sets of aligners at once, so you won't need to visit our office every time you switch trays. We'll schedule periodic checkups to monitor your progress and make sure everything is moving as planned. If adjustments are needed, we can address them during these visits.

Once you finish using your final set of aligners, you'll wear a retainer to keep your teeth from shifting back.
